Conspirators surfacing again - Governor
Suraj A Bandara
Local and foreign conspirators striving to resurrect LTTE terrorism
have begun to surface once again, Western Province Governor Alavi
Mowlana said.
He was addressing a media conference organized by the Joint Trade
Union Alliance (JTUA) at the Public Library Auditorium yesterday.
The Governor said the protest at Heathrow Airport and the
cancellation of the Oxford lecture scheduled to be delivered by
President Mahinda Rajapaksa are seen as an outcome of this conspiracy of
LTTE supporters. The Tamil diaspora together with certain local and
international pro-LTTE forces are trying to rejuvenate the defeated
terrorists, he said.
There are clear indications that certain political parties in Sri
Lanka, which see no possibility of coming into power in the foreseeable
future are trying their best by hook or crook to topple the Government.
Some politicians from Sri Lanka who participated in these protests
proved that they too are participants in this conspiracy, Mowlana said.
The JTUA urged the working community to rally round the President to
defeat the sinister efforts of local and foreign forces that are
hell-bent to disrupt the quick march towards development.
He said the Tamil diaspora will try its best in the future too to
prevent development in Sri Lanka to remain in foreign countries enjoying
luxuries on the pretext of being refugees.
The JTUA requested Sri Lankan Tamils living overseas to work in the
interest of the peace loving Lankan Tamil population and support efforts
being made to develop the country.
JTUA Secretary Hemasiri Jayalath said the emergence of patriotic
forces after the incident in London signifies the solidarity against the
strong colonial powers who went on humiliating Sri Lanka through false
allegations. |
