This is the story about a girl named ‘Lucky’.

No, I am not going to elaborate on Britney Spears today but the life another girl that I know. Her name is Luckmini but we’ll call her Lucky for short.

She is indeed lucky because she had a blessed childhood. Her parents were not quite well off but they provided Lucky with the best comforts that they could afford. Lucky’s childhood was mostly spent abroad. She was a single child and did not have to face the hazards of sharing her possessions with siblings. She was shy and friendly by nature and soon found lots of companions.

Fortunately her parents knew their limits so they did not spoil Lucky. They did not give her everything she asked for but made her work for her keeps.

If she wanted a doll she had to get top grades. If she wanted a extravagant dress to match her friend’s she had think about all the homeless people who can hardly afford a meal and then give her request another thought.

She was only gifted a computer when her studies demanded that she use one. She only got a mobile when she had to spend long stretches away from home.

Lucky learnt the hard way of life in three stages. First it was when she was engaged in higher studies. Her grandmother was extremely ill and had to be taken to hospital. Her mother spent day and night attending to grandmother’s needs. Father and Lucky looked after matters at home.

Our life is not always bind to luck

Lucky was very attached to her mother. She did not even feel like spending time let alone eat without her around. She buried herself with work to repress depressing thoughts.

She only went home late at night or when she knew that her mother will be around. She hardly ate and began to lose weight.

Fortunately she had some good friends. They stood by her side. Grandmother became well after a couple of months and life was back to normal.

The second was the hardest trial. Lucky is much elder now. She is employed. Within a few months she became extremely attached to someone she met in a matter of weeks. They had to part due to unexplainable reasons.

She did not think she would survive. The emotions were too deeply rooted in her heart. The experience destroyed her heart but not her spirit.

Stage three. Lucky had been away from home for many years. She visits her parents but is happy with her temporary home. Suddenly she had to give up her dwelling.

It pained her for she had to pay a price that was not due to her own fault. She was a victim for acting against injustice.

That itself is another story but ask Lucky if she regrets her past actions and she would say that she would not have changed anything even if she knew what her plight would have been in advance.

She is glad for rebelling against the wrong and backing her friends.

Lucky still has many problems. There are times that she wonders if she is indeed so lucky. She keeps reminding herself that she survived stage two.

She believes she is a survivor and that she will endure this period too.
