Scores of students injured in mishap

Over 27 students were injured when their bus skidded off the road and fell into a slope at Karawila bridge on the Ella- Badalkumbura road yesterday morning.

The injured were the students of Nissanka National School and Maligathenna School in Badalkumbura.

The injured were initially admitted to the Badalkumbura district hospital and later transferred to the Moneragala Base Hospital for treatment.

According to Moneragala Base hospital sources, 24 students were receiving treatment at the hospital and their condition is not serious.

The Badalkumbura Police believe that the bus has skidded off the road due to the bad weather condition in the area during the past few days.
