First innings win for St Servatius

St Servatius College, Matara registered a first innings win over Holy Cross College, Kalutara in the second round of the Under 13 Division One Ran Kekulu Trophy cricket tournament recently. The match was played at Holy Cross Grounds, Kalutara.

Put into bat Holy Cross were tottering at 7/28. Steady batting by Ashen de Silva (36) saw them make 75 in 40.4 overs. Kavindu Umesh (6/29) and Kasun Lakshitha (2/7) took wickets for St Servatius.

In reply St Servatius scored 150/9 and declared their innings after 54.3 overs. Ramesh Nimantha scored 54 off 56 balls which included seven fours and two sixes. Gihan Anuranga 37 n.o. off 159 deliveries anchored the innings along with Mohamed Shihan (25).

Geethanjana Gunawardena (3/22), Praveen Jayawickrema (2/32) and Azly Siddique (2/36) could not prevent St Servatius from gaining first innings points.

Holy Cross were 7/2 in 4 overs at close of play.

Holy Cross 1st innings 75 all out in 40.4 overs *Ashen de Silva 36, Kavindu Umesh 6/29, Kasun Lakshitha 2/7).

St Servatius 1st innings 150/9 declared in 54.3 overs (Ramesh Nimantha 54, Gihan Anuranga 37 n.o, Mohamed Shihan 25, Geethanjana Gunawardena 3/22, Praveen Jayawickrema 2/32, Azly Siddique 2/36).

Holy Cross 2nd innings 7/2 in 4 overs (Tharindu Maduranga 1/0, Ashen Deemantha 1/2).
