Drunken drivers attack cop for arresting them

Three drunken drivers had severely beaten up a policeman who apprehended them and dumped him in a canal (Kuda Oya) while he was taking them to the Kadugannawa police at around midnight Sunday.

The incident had occurred at Pilimathalawa. The policeman who had fallen unconscious due to bleeding from a blow received on his head, had later alerted the police station on his mobile phone after regaining consciousness.

His colleagues had rushed and rescued him and admitted him to hospital after about two hours. The three suspects resident in Boyagama had escaped from the scene in a three wheeler.

Kadugannawa police are conducting investigations to apprehend the suspects.
