Arrested with defamatory posters

The Police yesterday arrested the staff of a printing press which printed defamatory posters of President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Delkanda, Nugegoda. The Police also seized a large number of posters.

Twelve persons were arrested in this connection by the Special Investigation Unit of the Mirihana Police.

Sources yesterday alleged that an opposition political party is behind the printing of the above posters done with the intention of slinging mud at President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Police also seized a vehicle carrying posters printed at the above location.

They also took into custody a number of equipment including moulds used to print the President’s image. The Police are conducting further investigations.
