Azwar bats for absent UNP MPs

UPFA MP A H M Azwar was forced to raise questions entered in the order paper by UNP MPs who were absent yesterday due to their boycott of sittings.

When questions for oral answers were taken up in Parliament, there were no UNP MPs in the House. Questions of UNP MPs, Sajith Premadasa, Ravi Karunanayake, Harin Fernando, Dayasiri Jayasekara and Ajith P Perera were included in the order paper.

Usually when an MP is absent, another member from the same party would ask the question on behalf of the absent MP. However, since there was no UNP MP to ask questions from the party, MP Azwar asked the questions on behalf of them from the Government benches. The relevant Ministers tabled the answers and asked for time for several other questions.
