Masses erupt in joy islandwide

Thousands of people thronged to the streets across the country in support of the18th Amendment to the Constitution. They voiced their anger against the Opposition which failed in supporting the Government when it was engaged with one of the most ruthless terrorist outfits in the world.

Among them were professionals, Trade Union activists, Government servants and politicians. The masses carrying President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s photos raised their voice supporting the 18th Amendment to the Constitution. It would strengthen the Government’s development drive, they said.

They stressed that the country needs a strong and dynamic leader in the calibre of President Rajapaksa.

A massive campaign in support to the proposed Constitutional Amendment was held in Arachchikattuwa town yesterday.

People in the Yatinuwara electorate flocked to Pilimathalawa town and expressed their support to the proposed Amendment to the Constitution.
