Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka told Parliament
yesterday that two year delay in completing upper Kotmale power plant
had resulted in a Rs 37,260 million loss to the Theasury.
The loss was caused due to failure to integrate a volume of 409
gigawatt hours to the national grid,” he said.
The construction process met with technical problems owing to
hindrances caused in the building of tunnels and work is expected to be
complete by the end of next year, he said.
Minister Ranawaka said this in response to a question raised by UPFA
MP Victor Anthony.
