Devalaya roof on verge of collapse

The roof of the Kandy Kataragama Devalaya is in need of urgent repairs as it leaks during the rainy season, said Kataragama Devalaya Basnayake Nilame Kushan Wagodapola.

He said a large area of land belonging to the Devalaya are occupied by encroachers and no proper income is received even from the 70 sales outlets given on rent.

“Conducting the perahera under these circumstances has become very difficult,” he said.
