China, Argentina aim trade ties
ARGENTINA: Officials and experts from China and Argentina attended an
international seminar aimed at further developing economic ties between
the two countries on Monday.
“This seminar will help to deepen the economic, social and cultural
relations between two sides, based on mutual respect and shared
development,” Yang Shidi, commercial counselor at the Chinese embassy
here said.
Both countries also have cooperation agreements on communications,
transportation, energy, mining and infrastructure, which will be
expanded with this meeting, Yang said.
Shi Jianjun, president of China’s University of International
Business and Economics, said this seminar will help enhance bilateral
ties through more friendly academic exchanges.
Director of the Foreign Ministry’s international economic affairs,
Nestor Stancanelli, stressed the importance of academic work as
fundamental to promoting the development of ties between both countries.
Stancanelli also urged the two nations to make use of synergies and
seek common policies within the United Nations and the Group of 20 in
order to boost reform of the monetary and global financial systems.
China and Argentina forged diplomatic relations on Feb. 19, 1972.
Since then their ties have deepened with their bilateral trade
reaching more than 14.3 billion US dollars in 2008. Buenos Aires,
