Fraudster arrested

A man was arrested by police who had defrauded three million rupees
from job seekers promising them lucrative jobs in Japan.
Police spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said the Mirihana police
busted an illegal agency run by the suspect promising individuals to
find jobs in Japan.
“The suspect had allegedly taken Rs.100,000 from each job seeker as
advance and failed to provide them jobs as promised”, he added.
Unconfirmed sources said that the suspect also was engaged in various
business activities including money scamming. The suspect was arrested
yesterday at his residence in Kahantota, Malabe on information provided
by the job seekers.
He said around ten individuals had lodged complaints with the
Mirihana police about defrauding money.
Mirihana police are investigating.
