M P de Zoysa - Man with outstanding qualities

The cancellation of the commemorative stamp and first day cover to
commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of former Labour Minister M P de
Zoysa was held at the BMICH, Monday.
"He (M P de Zoysa) played an important role in Sri Lankan politics
even before independence. He was associated with the State Council
established under the Donoughmore Constitution. He first started his
education in his village school and subsequently joined Ananda College,
Colombo," said Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha. At the
occasion M P de Zoysa was called a man with outstanding qualities who
felt strongly about the culture of this country.
"He was fearless and brave and commanded respect. He was a well
grounded politician who remained undaunted in the face of criticism. We
are indebted to him who served our motherland," the Minister said.
Post and Telecommunication Minister Jeewan Kumaratunga, Defence
Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Western Province Governor Alavi
Mowlana were also present.
