Pre-historic skeleton found

A nearly 4,000 year old pre-historic skeleton was traced in a village in Hambantota by a Sri Lankan Professor of Canada's Mount Royal University.

Professor Samanthi Kulathilake working at the Sociology and Anthropology Department of Mount Royal University who made the findings said that this was the first ever complete pre-historic skeleton found in Sri Lanka. The skeleton was named Menikhami by the Professor.

The human skeleton, found from Miniethiliya village of Hungama in Hambantota was presumed to be a man who lived in the Mesolithic Period.

The skeleton is now on public display in the Dutch Fort in Matara.
