Wild elephants kill two farmers

Two farmers in Senapura and Karambawewa Grama Niladhari divisions in Tissamaharama were killed by wild elephants on the early hours of Monday, the Tissamaharama police said.

One of the two victims Samarasinghe Vidanagamage Karunasena aged 59 was a father of three in Senapura.

He was attacked by the elephant when he attempted to drive away a wild elephant which entered his home garden. Meanwhile, the other victim, Thondilage Hewa Jayasena (70) of Karambawewa was a father of eleven, police said. Tissamaharama police are investigating.
