Over 25 teams for Club Rugby Sevens

Over 25 teams will take part in the Inter-Club Rugby Sevens which will be worked off on August 14 and 15 at the Royal College Sports Complex and Longden Place.

CR and FC, Army, Navy and Air Force will field three teams each while defending champions Kandy Sports Club, CH and FC and Police will be represented by two teams each while Havelocks, Petersons, Jawatte Lions, Galle RFC, Eheliyagoda RFC, Puffins RFC, Rajarata Buffaloes, Gampaha RFC, Piliyandala RFC and Panadura RFC will be fielding one team each. Kandy Sports Club are the defending champions having won both tournaments played last year. The lads from Kandy first won the Rugby Sevens Title in 1999 by beating CR and FC in the final.

They have dominated this tournament since then except for 2000 and 2001 when Havelocks won the tournament and 2004 when the Sri Lanka Army emerged victorious.
