Pre-Departure Orientation for prospective students to US

The US-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission's Education USA Advising centre hosted its annual pre-departure orientation program recently for students beginning their studies in America this year.

Over a hundred students participated in the afternoon-long session and learned about various aspects of studying in the US including: how to maintain students (F1) visa status; employment opportunities available when they return to Sri Lanka; and life on a US campus. US Embassy's Consul William Dowers emphasized the importance of carefully following student visa requirements and cautioned that disregarding regulations could have long-term consequences.
