Alliance for ME peace proposed

Dominican Republic: A Latin American Alliance that bring about peace in the Middle East was proposed by Dominican President Leonel Fernandez during the inauguration ceremony of the Forum of Reflection on the issue.

The President clarified that with his call he does not expect to solve a conflict that has already lasted for over 60 years and dates from biblical times but to propose emergency of a new actor that can foster understanding. Arabs, Jews live in our land in harmony; we are suitable for an exchange between two civilizations when Europeans arrived in what is the Dominican Republic today, recalled Fernandez.

The Head of State opened the conference saying that the situation in Palestine is complicated with the arrival in power of a right-wing Government in Israel and control of Gaza by Hamas organization (Fervor).

He also enumerates the Jews settlements in Jerusalem (AlQuds for Arabs, holy city for the main three monotheist religions) as another cause of tension in the area.
