Fonseka asked to appear before Colombo HC on Aug 5

Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Lanka Jayaratne yesterday ordered General Sarath Fonseka and HICORP (Pvt) Limited director Wellington Dehoedt to appear before the Colombo High Court on August 5.

They were further remanded till August 5.

The Criminal Investigation Department conducting investigations into the alleged fraud committed by the HICORP (Pvt) Limited earlier told Judge Lanka Jayaratne that the CID investigations had revealed about General Sarath Fonseka’s involvements in the case and he was made as the third suspect in the case. The other two suspects are HICORP (Pvt) limited director Wellington Dehoedt and son-in-law of General Sarath Fonseka, Danuna Tillakaratne.

Senior State Counsel Damith Totawatte who appeared with the CID for the prosecution said third suspect General Sarath Fonseka will be charged before the Colombo High Court for Criminal Breach of Trust under the Public Property Act.

Earlier on an application by the CID, the Judge re issued the warrant in the English language for the arrest of Danuna Tillekeratne who is evading arrest.

Chief Inspector Mohan Siriwardena of the CID said they are obtaining the assistance of Interpol for the arrest of Danuna Tillakaratne.

On the last occasion, Chief Inspector Siriwardena and Sergeant Wijesuriya appeared for the CID said the suspect director had forwarded several forged documents to the Army authorities in order to obtain the contract to his company.

Senior Defence Counsel Nalin Ladduwahetti with Nilanthi Peiris, Siraz Noordeen, Nishada Gamage and Sunil Watawala instructed by Paul Ratnayake appeared for General Sarath Fonseka.

Sarath Siriwardena with Sudharshini Gunaratne and Siraz Noordeen appeared for the Hicorp Director.
