Political parties prime objective:

Work for common good of masses

Leaving aside petty political agendas and objectives and working for the common good of the masses should be the prime objective of every political party, said Public Management Reforms Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake when he addressed a gathering at the Millewa Maha Vidyalaya Horana to mark a social service program Saturday.

Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa was the Chief Guest at this ceremony to mark the distribution of goods among low-income group families and equipment among several schools, daham pasalas and sports clubs in the area.

Todays need was for all politicians to work with an open mind.

Wickremanayake said we should protect and conserve moral and spiritual values from grass roots level if we were to achieve our economic goals.

The Government was always willing to respect people’s wishes but it would never kneel down before the dictators of alien forces. Namal Rajapaksa MP said it was a pleasure to work in association with senor politicians who catered to the welfare of the village sector.

The country was rapidly moving towards development under his leadership.

Stressing the need for a knowledge-based education he said the filling of sea water to the new Hambantota Port recently augured well for the future prosperity of the nation. Kalutara District MP Vidura Wickremanayake also spoke.
