Honesty and discipline of highest calibre
On July 10, Sandya Silva accompanied by my two little grand daughters
arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport by flight EK 651 from
London at 2.15 pm. I left the Airport soon with my bag and baggage being
loaded to the van.
Only when I arrived at home, I realized that my hand-luggage has been
left behind at the Airport, and immediately contacted the Airport
authorities, where they directed my call to the Port and Aviation
Security Division.
I spoke to one officer called N.P. Sena, and told him I left my hand
luggage out side the Airport building in an area where the passengers
who have arrived are gathering. The officer Sena told me to come
immediately to identify my luggage.
On our arrival at the Airport, I met the three officers N.P. Sena,
R.M. Jayawardena and A.M.D.U. Rajakaruna who were very polite and
courteous.
I identified my grand children’s original educational certificates,
their two passports, Sterling Pounds (1,200) US Dollars ($400) and few
thousands of Rupees as well.
It was not the cash that I was worried, but the certificates and two
passports. I would like to state, not a pin was missing and that would
speak for the honesty of every officer employed in the Airport.
