Yunani doctors launch dengue awareness program

Yunani doctors conducted an awareness program to eradicate dengue
mosquito breeding places and a medical camp to treat Yunani system of
treatment for dengue patients.
Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) Special Commissioner Omar Kamil said
the CMC in association with Yunani doctors launched an awareness program
at the M.V. Kitchilan Community Hall in Slave Island yesterday. The
awareness program was presided by Dr. M I Latheef and four other doctors
specializing in the Yunani and Ayurvedic medicine. He said a large
number of people from Slave Island area had participated in this
program.
A public lecture on how to fight and eradicate the dengue mosquitoes
was also held. Kamil noted that the Slave Island area is one of the
dengue high risk areas. “People were given free Yunani medicine and
instructions to keep their environment clean to prevent the dengue
mosquito breedings,” Kamil told the Daily News.
The dengue mosquito eradicating programs were carried out under the
instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The President had advised
the CMC authorities to utilize resources and control the menace, he
added.
