Man sets fire to himself opposite UNP headquarters

A person who set fire to himself opposite the UNP headquarters in Kotte demanding the non implementation of UNP reforms was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital from the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital under critical condition.

Rienzi Algama, 60 of Weligama set fire to himself opposite Siri Kotha around 5.15 p.m. yesterday demanding the UNP not to implement the reforms.

According to Kalubowila Hospital police, he was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital after preliminary treatment as he was in a critical condition. Colombo National Hospital Director Dr. Hector Weerasinghe told the Daily News that he is sustaining extensive and serious burn injuries and his condition is not stable.
