Paving the way to be a shining example

This year, the Ten Outstanding Youth Persons Awards (TOYP) which was launched in the year 1980 will be organized for the thirtieth consecutive year. This national awards program is organized to recognise the achievements of young people in our country.

Open to those between the ages of 18 to 40 years, this award acknowledges young people who serve as role models to their peers. It is expected that “[they] will become the outstanding leaders of tomorrow,” stated Jc. Azard Ishak, National President of JCI Sri Lanka.

HSBC in partnership with the Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka (JCI Sri Lanka) will be organizing this event together for the fifth consecutive year. CEO HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives, Nick Nicolau stated that “HSBC is pleased to be part of this prestigious event [which] honours young people who have reached the heights of progress in numerous human endeavours.” He went on to state that he hopes this award will serve as an example to other young people in the country.

JCI is a worldwide community of young active citizens aged 18-40 who are dedicated to creating the positive change they wish to see in themselves and the world. JCI’s International Network connects more than 115 Countries. Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka (JCI Sri Lanka), is the Local Branch of Junior Chamber International, the world’s largest Youth Leadership Development Organization which functions with the mission to provide development opportunities that empowers young people to create positive change.

Junior Chamber International Sri Lanka holds the franchise to conduct ‘The Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Sri Lanka’ Award Program in the country and this award is presented worldwide through the Junior Chamber International National Chapters.
