Transport (CILT) last week held its 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at
the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Auditorium in Colombo.
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport is a worldwide
organization.
With over 33,000 members working in over 100 countries, the CILT
spans the globe. It is an organization that offers significant benefits
to all its members, as well as a complete suite of educational courses
internationally.
CILT Sri Lanka newly elected Chairman Professor Amal S.Kumarage told
Daily News Business, “main objective of CILT is to enhance and develop
the process, efficiency and nature of the transport sector in the
country.
Transport and logistics sector is still only contributing 10 percent
to 12 percent of the GDP. By introducing modern technology and
management practices the contribution of the transport and logistics
sector in the country would be increased very soon.
One of the main objectives in the current Government development
process is to develop the country as a transport hub.” |
