Measures taken to streamline transport

Measures have been taken by the Transport Ministry to streamline public transportation in the North to provide a better transport service to the civilians in the Northern Province.

This includes the combining of transport facilities provided by the Sri Lanka Transport Board - CTB and the private bus owners, opening of driver training schools in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Mannar, a press release of the Government Information Department said.

Arrangements have also been made to expedite issuing route permits to private bus owners and the SLTB is repairing a large number of buses in need of repairs.

Bus services from Kilinochchi to Colombo, Batticaloa to Kilinochchi, Trincomalee-Kilinochchi, Mannar-Trincomalee, Mullaitivu-Colombo and Mullaitivu-Kilinochchi are to be started soon.
