Scattered showers predicted

There will be showers in the Western and Central Provinces and Galle and Matara districts today. We also expect more showers in the south western hilly slopes of Kegalle and Ratnapura Districts, Meteorology Duty Forecaster Damayanthi Indiketihewage told the Daily News yesterday.

She further said there could be fairly strong winds and showers in the areas of Eastern, Uva and North Central Provinces.

Canyon recorded the highest rainfall of 114.5 millimetres on Saturday. The cricket match at Galle had to be stopped due to a rainfall of six millimetres within an hour from 4.30 to 5.30 last evening, a Met Department official said.
