Govt to develop aesthetic tastes

The National Heritage and Cultural Affairs Ministry is planning to develop the aesthetic tastes of Sri Lankans, a Ministry spokesman told the Daily News.

The Ministry will launch a program to promote performing arts through the Tower Hall, in the near future. And the Ministry expects that this new trend will result in developing the aesthetic tastes of the people, a Ministry spokesman said.

National Heritage and Cultural Affairs Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi has requested Department officials to get involved in the Tower Hall reconstruction program to expedite the work.

Tower Hall will be the complete performing art centre for the future generation. The Ministry expects to import 735 seats manufactured technically. It will cost the Ministry Rs 40 million. The Ministry under these new constructions anticipates to establish the upper floor as a study hall.
