NGJA commences islandwide jewellery survey
The National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) has commenced an
island wide survey on jewellery designers, jewellery shops and pawn
brokers for initiating strategies to boost Sri Lanka’s jewellery
industry. Accordingly, steps will be taken to gradually raise the
standard of Sri Lankan jewellery products to international levels by
improving the talents of all jewellery designers in the island.
To achieve this, the latest technology on jewellery designing will be
introduced and plans will be worked out to deal with problems the
industry is currently facing and to raise living standards of jewellery
designers and technicians.
The Authority has already appointed a committee of officials to
conduct the survey which will cover all districts including Jaffna,
according to NGJA Chairman and CEO Anil Koswatte. |
