Home garden promotion drive

The Sri Lanka Hadabima Authority will provide support to establish 2000 home gardens in Matara district, said the Hadabima Authority Chairman Nandasena Herath.

"We have already started home gardens in Kegalle, Matale, Kandy districts and hope to expand it as a islandwide program. The main objective of this program is to encourage people to get a chemical free diet that is safe as well as more savoury.

We select one village from each divisional secretariat and will provide seeds, technical advice and methods to prepare carbonic fertilizer," said the Chairman.

He also said that home gardening is becoming popular as it is an interesting hobby as well as a source of income. Even housewives are taking to this useful occupation.
