Madhuka (7 for 58) bowls Chilaw Marians to a first innings win

Sri Lanka youth cap Madhuka Liyanapathiranage returned career best figures of seven wickets for 58 to guide Chilaw Marians CC to a close first innings victory over Bloomfield in their SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Bloomfield chasing a modest total of 259 were bundled out for 222 runs in their first innings with right arm off spinner and schoolboy Liyanapathiranage causing most of the damage.

Chilaw Marians SC: 259 and 202 (G. Alwis 68, R. Gunasekera 63, A. Atapattu 5 for 73).

Moors beat BRC

Moors SC put up a fine performance to beat BRC on the first innings in their SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Havelock Park yesterday. After bowling out their opponents for 179 runs, Moors SC went on to pile up a huge 387 for 9 with opener Shehan Jayasuriya stroking a fluent century inclusive of one six and a dozen of boundaries.

BRC: 179 and 337 for 8 (A. Rabel 32, F. Saleem 73, S. Devinda 32, Y. Abeykoon 37, P. Jayasinghe 47 n.o, D. Chaturanga 60, S. Fernando 3 for 103)

Moors SC: 387 for 9 decl (S. Jayasuriya 124, I. Samarasuriya 67, I. Gouse 44, M. Raffi 39, C. de Silva 24,M. Perera 25, S. Fernando 26 n.o, A. Perera 3 for 70, M. Madushanka 2 for 103).

Nalin Vimukthi 87

Middle order batsman Nalin Vimukthi hit a top score of 87 to steer Ragama CC to a first innings victory over Colts CC in their SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.

Colts CC however made amends in their second innings while compiling 294 for 5 with Kusal Janith Perera stroking a splendid 119.

Colts CC: 209 and 294 for 5 (K. Perera 119, C. Kumara 60, O. Fernando 42, S. Silva 39, N. Mazahir 2 for 51)

Ragama CC: 292 (D. de Silva 32, V. Perera 67, N. Tharaka 26, N. Vimukthi 87, R. Weerasinghe 3 for 68, I. Jayaratne 2 for 42, R. Silva 2 for 53)

NCC fall short

NCC fell short by just one run from pulling off an outright victory over Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club in their SLC Under-23 division one three day cricket tournament match which concluded at Welisara yesterday.

Set to make 110 runs from 14 overs NCC finished on 109 for 6 in their second innings and had to be content with first innings points.

Navy SC: 259 and 203 (V. Chandrasiri 45, C. Ruwansiri 44, U. Jayasundera 21, R. Wijenayake 5 for 33, H. Mawjood 3 for 70)

NCC: 353 (R. Kavinga 107, A. Perera 85, A. Liyanage 29, P. Perera 23, R. Laksiri 46, D. Mendis 4 for 70, M. Gunasinghe 3 for 95, U. Jayasundera 2 for 33) and 109 for 6 (A. Liyanage 33, V. Chandrasiri 2 for 26).
