HNB continues another year as ICASL lead sponsor

Hatton National Bank (HNB) PLC, extended their patronage as a Lead Sponsor of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) for 2010. The sponsorship cheque was handed over to the ICASL President, Sujeewa Mudalige by Hatton National Bank PLC Managing Director/CEO, R Theagarajah at the HNB Head Office recently.

HNB Senior Deputy General Manager - Strategy Nihal Kekulawala, HNB Deputy General Manager - Human Resources & Administration Mancius Paiva, HNB Chief Financial Officer Ajantha Vas Gunasekara, HNB CEO/Secretary ICASL Aruna Alwis, ICASL Vice President and Sujeewa Rajapakse were also present at the occasion.

Hatton National Bank PLC Managing Director/CEO R Theagarajah, said that HNB as a leading commercial bank operating in the financial sector has identified participating in education initiatives as a key aspect of its corporate social responsibility initiatives and that HNB takes pride in being a lead sponsor of ICASL, a premier national accounting body which has been instrumental in shaping national education and raising the standards in the accounting profession in the country.

He said that HNB as an employer has benefited by the pool of accounting professionals produced by ICASL and the professional standards maintained by the institute, therefore, partnering with ICASL was an opportunity for HNB to develop both the profession and national education.
