Walale A. Ratnayake Maha Vidyalaya won both Senior and Junior
Athletic Championships at the Zonal Track and Field Championship held at
the Kandy Bogambara stadium from June 28 to July 1.

Junior Boys Championship was won by Trinity College and the Junior
Girls Championship was won by Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy.
Boys Relay Championship was jointly won by Trinity, Kandy and
Ranabimba Royal, Gannoruwa and Girls Relay Championship was won by A.
Ratnayake Maha Vidyalaya, Wattegama. Best Boys Athlete was K. D. S. N.
Randeniya of Ranabima Royal College, Gannoruwa. Best Girls Athlete was
A. M. S. Adikari of Galewela MMV. R. T. N. Ranaweera of Trinity College,
Kandy who won both 100 and 75 metres races was selected as the Best
Athlete of Junior Boys while M. M. Wickremanayake of Sangamitta Balika
Vidyalaya, Matale who clocked 27.10 seconds.
R. P. Chandrasekera who was adjudged the Best Athlete (under
11 girls) with the trophies she won. |
In the 200 metres under 15 final was selected as the Best Junior
Girls Athlete M. M. Salimdeen of Trinity College who clocked 56.01
seconds was adjudged the under 19 Best Athlete.
