Chamber calls for joint branding effort
The SAARC region needs strong branding to unleash
the tremendous potential in tourism and an integrated approach to
develop tourism beyond national boundaries. “We need to work on
common interest in an joint effort to develop tourism to trigger a
chain of economic activities. This should be led by successful
regional cooperation and liberalization of visa regime where
multiple country visa for SAARC region could be made available,
SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Annisul Huq said.

US $10 billion targeted from ten industries
IT/BPO, clinical trials and research:
The Government is looking at ten industries in
Sri Lanka that will earn US$ one billion each in the future. IT/BPO,
clinical trials and research industries are a few among the ten
industries that have been earmarked as main export income earners of
the country. These industries can drastically change the nature of
exports of the country, Finance and Economic Development Ministry
Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera said.

‘Apparel sector can explore Asian market’
