Chinese masterpieces on show at paintings exhibition

A Chinese exhibition of paintings was opened at the National Art
Gallery, Colombo 7 under the auspices of District Congress Deputy Chief
Xin Weijun who flew down for the event with a six-member Government
delegation.
The exhibition was presented by the Yangpu District, Shanghai in
collaboration with the Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China in Sri
Lanka and the National Heritage and Cultural Affairs Ministry.
The exhibition will be held until July 12. It is being held to
introduce the traditional culture of China to Sri Lankans strengthening
close ties of unity and improve cultural exchanges between the two
countries.
Forty seven masterpieces from 24 professional painters of China on
show are essentially beautiful landscapes, both imaginative and natural
environment, flora and fauna expressed in ink and colour wash typical of
Chinese art. National Heritage and Cultural Affairs Ministry Secretary
Wimal Rubasinghe, Ministry officials, foreign delegates and invitees
participated. |
