Salary hike with 2011 budget

Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera yesterday stated in Parliament that the Rs. 2,500 salary hike promised in the Mahinda Chinthana - Vision for the Future will be granted to public servants through the 2011 budget. Around 1.2 million public servants will be entitled for this increment, he said.

The Government has estimated that it needs nearly Rs. 36 billion to provide the Rs. 2,500 salary rise and other concessions to the 1.2 million public servants in the country.
