The UNP Reforms Committee headed by UNP MP Joseph Micheal Perera
assigned to forward recommendations for party reforms was yet to
finalize the report at the time of going to press.
The Chairman of the six-member committee, Joseph Michael Perera told
the Daily News the report was due to have been submitted yesterday.
”The UNP Reforms Committee would finalize its report and discuss
further amendments. If we could finalize the proposals as early as
possible we will hand it over to the UNP Leader,” he said.
After handing over the report possible further amendments would be
made to the report, Perera said.
A Special UNP Working Committee will assemble to finalize the report
with the participation of seniors of the party, he said.
The committee will consider the recommendations with party leader
Ranil Wickremesinghe and other senior members before making it public,
Perera said.
The final proposals will be ready for ratification at UNP’s special
convention in August. After the convention, the party will abide by the
recommendations and will be governed by it. “All these changes will be
taken place during a three month period after ratification,” the MP
added. |
