Gami Saviya empowers village youth

It is reinforcement of the efforts of youth on village level through
the Gami Saviya that is planned in accordance with the ideals envisaged
by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. It should be achieved on a regional
level for the welfare of scattered unemployed rural youth, Wayamba
Provincial Small Industries Development and Women's Affairs Gunadasa
Dehigama said at a meeting held at Thuththiripitiya, Panduwasnuwara.
The Wayamba Small Industries Development and Women's Affairs Ministry
will promote rural business ventures for local business entrepreneurs.
The Provincial Minister said, there is a population of over two
million in the North Western Province. There are 1,610 Grama Seva
Divisions. Village Development Societies in Puttalam will be increased
up to 1000. Rs. 30 million has been allocated to trigger rural
enterprises in the province this year. Village to village coordination
will be made to improve liaison with the rural development officers, the
Grama Sevaka officers, the Samurdhi development officers together with
the divisional secretaries and Pradeshiya Sabha members to implement the
projects. |
