Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena met representatives from 40 trade unions in the water sector recently. All representatives expressed their support to the Minister, a Water Supply and Drainage Ministry spokesman said..

According to the spokesman, the trade unionists expressed their gladness in connection with the appointment of Dinesh Gunawardena as the Water Supply and Drainage Minister and extended their support to him.

They pointed out that the Water Supply Board is safe in the hands of Minister Gunawardena.

Addressing the trade unionists, Minister Gunawardena said President Mahinda Rajapaksa has already stressed the importance of building the country with the cooperation of the working class and their trade unions.

The work can be started by upgrading the board. The very first should be providing adequate drinking water for the public at a reasonable price.
