Minister meets trade unionists

Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena met
representatives from 40 trade unions in the water sector recently. All
representatives expressed their support to the Minister, a Water Supply
and Drainage Ministry spokesman said..
According to the spokesman, the trade unionists expressed their
gladness in connection with the appointment of Dinesh Gunawardena as the
Water Supply and Drainage Minister and extended their support to him.
They pointed out that the Water Supply Board is safe in the hands of
Minister Gunawardena.
Addressing the trade unionists, Minister Gunawardena said President
Mahinda Rajapaksa has already stressed the importance of building the
country with the cooperation of the working class and their trade
unions.
The work can be started by upgrading the board. The very first should
be providing adequate drinking water for the public at a reasonable
price.
Minister Gunawardena also pointed out that water can be provided for
more households by reducing wastage.
New ideas and concepts should be used to do this with the assistance
of all trade unions.
The development activities of the water sector should be accelerated.
Public is the treasure of the board, the Minister added.
