Free spectacle bonanza for needy

The Health Ministry has made arrangements to set up an `optical
workshop' at the National Eye Hospital, Colombo to provide free
spectacles for needy people who visit the hospital for treatment.
The workshop will be set up with the assistance of the International
Centre for Eye Care Education, Australia.
The Health Ministry and the Sri Lanka office of the Australian based
NGO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard. The
organisation will assist the Ministry to develop infrastructure
facilities of the National Eye Hospital.
The organisation will train two persons selected by the Ministry and
also provide free spectacles for needy patients.
The infrastructure development project will be launched under
'Development of Eye Care Services through the Colombo Urban
Comprehensive Eye Care Project and Prevention of Blindness Initiatives.
