Power schemes completed

The construction of two major power projects and twelve power schemes
in the Killinochchi district launched under the Uthuru Vasanthaya
development program have been completed, Power and Energy Ministry
sources said.
Laying of 30 kilometres high-tension power line on the A-9 road 24
kilometres from Killinochchi and onwards, 06 kilometres from Murukkandi
and onwards were completed at a cost of Rs 24 million under this
accelerated program, according to the sources.
In addition,street lamps in Poonerine and Paranthan have been
installed at a coat of Rs.1.3 million. Stages one and two of the School
electrifying projects have also been completed.
Power and Energy Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekera told the Daily
News yesterday that the Government will provide equal benefits to the
people of the North as those of the people in the South.
The Deputy Minister said the completed two power supply schemes of
Jayanthinagar and Malayalapuram were opened yesterday by Namal Rajapaksa
(MP). The Ministry spent over Rs 17.8 million for this project.
He said the total expenditure on projects so far completed exceeds
over Rs 80 million. |
