Rain guards under subsidiary scheme

Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said he has decided to discuss matters related to supplying of rain guards for every rubber tree specially in the wet zone rubber plantations under a subsidiary scheme to tap maximum latex from rubber trees.

It has been observed that the productivity could be doubled after introducing rain guards.

"Some working hours of rubber tappers had been limited to maximum four to five hours a month due to continuous rain in certain areas in the wet zone," he added.
