SriLankan Catering provides special food

A special flight service had been allocated at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to fly visitors for the 11th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards at the Sugathadasa Indoor stadium on June 5.

Eight special flights with business class seats catering special food will begin operations from today by flying guests from Bombay to Sri Lanka. SriLankan Catering (Pvt) Limited will also provide food for the IIFA pre-awards cocktails event. Backstage catering will also be done by them. Artistes will be able to stroll along the green carpet and enter the cocktail area to enjoy the delicacies.

According to SriLankan Catering Chief Executive Officer Sarath Fernando, a range of Western food will be served to the guests.

“There will be a mixture of Western and Indian dishes along with a variety of food for vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians. Special Sri Lankan dishes will also be included in the menu. Hot and cold finger food will be served at the IIFA Awards. There will be around 30 items included in the list. We have around 166 chefs working on this. Production Manager Sudeesh Pandey heads the project along with chef Antony Gibson. We are hoping to serve around 2,000 people,” he said.

He said the food served will be in the most hygienic standard and that the food will cater to everyone’s fancy.

SriLankan Catering (Private) Limited, formerly known as AirLanka Catering Services Limited is the sole airline caterer at the BIA.
