Possession of explosives: Film producer remanded

Mirihana Police produced film producer Chandran Ratnam before Nugegoda Acting Magistrate Tissa Wijeratne who ordered him be remanded till today. According to Police Media Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody, the film producer was arrested for possession of four kilos and 955 grams of explosives and seven detonators.

Investigators said the film producer had told them he possessed a licence for the explosives but failed to produce the licence at the time he was arrested. He also told police that he had brought these explosives to be used for his next film.

The Acting Magistrate directed Police to obtain STF assistance and defuse the explosives and submit a report to court on the next date.
