NHDA survey to facilitate flood victims

A National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) survey found that 2,771 houses have been partially damaged and 521 houses have been completely destroyed due to recent floods.

The NHDA survey conducted under the direction of Construction, Engineering , Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa as an immediate measure to be taken to facilitate flood victims especially in the Western Province.

Meanwhile, a special consultancy service related to obtaining housing loans from a public or private bank will be introduced through the NHDA to minimize the difficulties faced by customers while taking loans. A consumer-friendly system with the NHDA assistance will be introduced to ease the loan application process to cut down delays.

The NHDA will also assist loan seekers to draw up their plans in a short period. According to the sources, a housing loan application has to pass nearly 17 stages before it gets final approval.
