Top designers at IIFA fashion show

Two Indian designers and two Sri Lankan designers will showcase their
creations at the IIFA Fashion show at the BMICH on June 3, Colombo
Fashion Week Founder and Director Ajai Singh who is also in charge of
the IIFA Fashion show said.
The glamorous event begins the Videocon IIFA Weekend at the BMICH.
Designs by top Indian designers Manish Malhotra and Vikram Phadnis will
take on the ramp while local designers Kanchana Thalpawila and Yolanda
Aluwihare will display some of their works. Ten to 15 Indian models will
display Indian garments that go along with the Bollywood theme. Seven to
10 Sri Lankan models will also participate.
Sri Lankan beauty queen cum Indian actress Jacqueline Fernandez will
also be present among the renowned Indian artistes who have been listed
among the invitees for the event. Some stars will also take to the ramp
enhancing the glitz and glamour behind the international fashion show.
“Kanchana and Yolanda have concentrated on bringing out a collection
that had embedded the Sri Lankan expression with the Indian.
International media and guests are invited to the gala show which is one
of the main features that follows up to the Micromax IIFA Awards.,”
Singh noted.
A cocktail will be held before the fashion show while an after party
is also on the cards.
“Jacqueline was the face of Colombo Fashion Week 2007 before she went
on to make it big in the Indian fashion arena and cinema. This is a good
opportunity for local fashion designers to break through to the Indian
market,” he said.
Reputed Indian designer Manish Malhotra has designed Kareena Kapoor’s
stage outfit for her performance at the awards ceremony. He will also be
involved in the fashion show. |
