IGP warns public of fraudsters

Inspector General of Police Mahinda Balasuriya yesterday revealed that he had received a number of complaints to the effect that several persons had deceived the public by way of preparing forged deeds and acquired lands without their sanction.

The IGP has appealed to the public to bring to his notice, on Fridays at the IGPs Public meeting day, if they had been similarly cheated and fallen victim to elements who had forged deeds and acquired lands, properties and houses without their knowledge.

If any person is unable to come to the Police Headquarters they could contact the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police - Crimes at the Police Headquarters or on telephone number 011-2325391.

"I will peruse all these complaints personally by myself with a special police team," the IGP said.
