A and E partners Moratuwa University

American and Efird Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, the Brandix Group’s world-class thread manufacturing company, has been designated the Strategic Sewing Thread Partner to the Moratuwa University Department, Textile and Clothing Technology Department under a new affiliation ratified recently.

A Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two institutions envisages that A and E will also refurbish and maintain the lecture room known as TLR4, and sponsor an annual award for the best performance at industrial training by a student of the BSc Engineering degree program in textile and clothing technology.

“The Moratuwa University is one of the biggest contributors of graduates to the apparel sector, and A and E is privileged to support its Textile and Clothing Technology Department, as its strategic sewing thread partner,” said A and E CEO Janaka Gamage.

“As one of the biggest employers in the sector, the Brandix Group is appreciative of the efforts of the university to improve standards and motivate its students,” he said.

The MoU was signed by A and E Lanka CEO and the Head of the Department of Textile and Clothing Technology Head Dr. G. L. D Wickramasinghe.

PC Pharma donates glucometers

PC Pharma provided a range of glucometers to be used in Government and private hospitals.

With the Development of these products, and the enhancement of treatment procedures, PC Pharma recently presented 100 Rheamed glucometers to the Medical Supplies division for use in paediatric units across the island. Established for nearly 3 years, PC Pharma has gradually built its image with the provision of high quality medicine, surgical and therapeutic devices, nutraceuticals and guidance for better health care.

PC Pharma also conducts a host of health camps aimed at spotting and treating blood sugar disorders early on, guaranteeing individuals are better informed and able to prevent or control a disease that would otherwise cost them their lives.

The latest health camp conducted in relation to diabetic care was at the Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya in Gampaha. The program consisted of a trained team of professionals educating students on the signs and causes of diabetic disorders and the possible preventive measures.


hSenid technology partner at International HR Conference 2010

Commercial Leasing in Vavuniya
Commercial Leasing (CLC) opened a branch in Vavuniya. Northern Province, where the majority of the population depends on agriculture will have the benefit of obtaining leasing, hire purchases, factoring and micro finance services through this branch. Discount for HNB cardholders

Hatton National Bank (HNB) is offering its credit cardholders a 40 percent direct discount for reservations made at the Amaya Group of hotels. Amaya Resorts and Spas have three hotels which include Amaya Hills in Kandy, Amaya Lake in Dambulla and Amaya Reef in Hikkaduwa all of which offer 40 percent discount to HNB credit cardholders. Swarnamahal Financial Services moves to new premises

The Nugegoda branch of Swarnamahal Financial Services was moved to a more prominent and convenient location at No. 31/1, Stanley Thilakaratne Mawatha, Nugegoda for the benefit of its customers last week.

Chairperson Dr. Soma Edirisinghe said at the opening that Swarnamahal Financial Services commenced its operations in Nugegoda in 2007 and in order to provide better facilities to their customers, it became necessary to re-locate to a more prominent and convenient location, the result of which is the setting up of the branch at this location.

She said, “We shall continue to offer customer friendly, convenient and cost effective financial solutions for both individuals and corporate clients with the view to maximizing the benefits to our clients in a professional manner under the prevalent highly competitive market environment.”

She said “The company shall continue to strengthen further the branch network and presently we operate four fully-fledged branches and five pawning centres. She intends to extend the branch operations in the year 2010 to many outskirts including the North and the East. The towns earmarked initially are Jaffna, Vavuniya and Trincomalee.

Swarnamahal Financial Services Limited is an associate company of the EAP Group incorporated in 2004 and registered by the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in August 2006. The company’s main functions are pawning, leasing, hire purchase, factoring cum cheque discounting, medium term loans, fixed deposits and savings accounts.
