FSA trains capital market experts

The Financial Services Academy (FSA) is in the process of helping the
capital market industry to form a qualified group of capital market
experts in the country.
The Academy released results of the third batch of its study programs
last week and will enrol a new batch of students shortly.
These programs are conducted in Sinhala and English and will provide
useful knowledge on the financial market, Financial Services Academy
Director Dr. Harendra Dissa Bandara told the Daily News Business.
There are two study courses named Certificate in Capital Market and
Registered Investment Advisors. Thirty one students have completed these
courses.
The Certificate in Capital Market is the first qualification for the
framework of capital market professionals in Sri Lanka.
The students have to study three modules such as equity security,
debt security and securities regulations and ethics for over 26 weeks.
The second qualification is the registered Investment Advisor also for
capital market professionals.
The certificate holders in capital market can obtain the Registered
Investment Advisor qualification by completing a six months internship
training under the supervision of a qualified broker.
The study courses offered by the academy are important as the
country’s capital market activities are expected to expand with the
accelerated economic growth.
The peaceful environment will attract more investors to fuel growth
in the capital market and it is important to produce professionals to
derive benefits, he said.
The Financial Services Academy is the training arm of the Securities
and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. |
