Thomians crush Cambrians

S. Thomas' College put up a powerful display to beat Prince of Wales College Moratuwa by a huge 98 points (9 goals, 7 tries) to 3 points (one penalty) in a completely one sided Singer inter school under 20 division one league rugby tournament match worked off at Mount Lavinia yesterday.

The Thomians got their act together well from the kick off and built up a 53-3 lead at half time and ended up with just two points short of the three figure mark. They eventually ran down a total of 16 tries and converted nine of them while conceding a solitary penalty to their opponents.

Dynamic wing three quarter Anuruddha Willwara was in tremendous form as he touched down on six occasions while crack number eight Sudarshana Muthuthantri planted five tries.

In addition, fly half Shavin Kapuwatte scored two tries while winger Krish Wickremasinghe, Shehan Tahir, flanker Devin Illeppeli and Avendra Dharmadasa scored a try each for the winners.

Full back Devin Jayasinghe was successful in converting nine tries for the Thomians. C.D
